Privacy policy

Protection of your personal data

We take data privacy very seriously. Accordingly, we conduct our activities in accordance with applicable laws on personal data protection and data security.

Most of our website is accessible without registering, i.e. without disclosing your personal data. However, in some areas we need your data in order to be able to provide the requested service. Our webpages are basically designed so that they can be visited and used without users having to identify themselves by name or manually disclose personal data. The procedure is somewhat different in the case of orders, where we process your personal data in order to complete the order and manage the customer relationships and where necessary transmit them to third parties, such as delivery services.

Collection, processing and use of personal data

We use a variety of IT systems to provide our services to our customers.
In particular, we collect, process and use the following personal data in so far as you communicate or transmit them to us:

Using the forms on our website

Name, first name, title, company, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, fax number, function

We process and use this data to provide the services requested by you, to process your inquiries, to issue invoices, in order to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and in order to enforce (legal) claims. In order to process the purchase and parcel delivery, we use service providers within the EU, who process personal customer data on our behalf.

Using cookies, analysis tools and plug-ins

Name of the Internet service provider, requested files, IP address, access to individual pages, browser type, screen resolution, colour depth, operating system, search terms and reference pages from which you accessed our webpages.

We process and use this information in order to improve the marketing of our webpages, in order to increase the user-friendliness of the webpages and for other optimisation purposes. The analysis required for marketing and optimisation purposes usually does not allow us to identify you personally or your personal data. In particular, no names, addresses, telephone numbers or other data are stored that can be directly attributed to individuals. The analysis provides only aggregated data, such as the number of visitors and the page views.

For the purposes described, we reserve the right, if necessary, to disclose your personal data to companies affiliated with us and/or service providers instructed by us, provided that this is required, necessary and appropriate after due consideration of your interests and those of the Messe Frankfurt Group. You can find the companies of our group at: https://www.messefrankfurt.com/frankfurt/en/company/global.html.

Otherwise, personal data will only be disclosed to third parties with your express consent, for example if you indicate your interest in third-party products, services or events. In this case, the data will be passed on to the relevant partners.

Moreover, we will only disclose personal data to third parties if we are legally obliged to do so or if such disclosure is necessary in order to enforce or protect our rights.

Newsletter and information

Subject to your separate consent, we will also use the personal data stored by us to inform you about the products and services we offer. We will only send you the relevant information electronically if you have expressly given your consent in writing or via the double-opt-in procedure.

You can be sure that we will not sell your personal data to third parties or otherwise market it.

Questions and concerns about data protection

Please contact us if you have any questions in this regard.

Cookies

When requesting content from our website, cookies are set in order to optimise communication times and to enable the anonymised statistical evaluation of the use of our website.

Cookies are small text files that are stored on the user's computer whenever they visit a website. They can be automatically recognised and read during a current or future visit. Among other things, cookies allow us to adapt our website to your wishes, to create connections between different visits to our website or to save your password in the browser so that you do not have to re-enter it every time.

We also use cookies for targeted advertising: We also allow data providers or other automated data collection tools to use our cookies to help us deliver our own content and ads and measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. These cookies may provide anonymised or other data, linked to data that you have transmitted to us and that we pass on to data providers only in hashed form, i.e. in a form that is unreadable by humans. In the case of registered users, the data collected on our websites is not anonymous. We use this information together with other information that we know or derive about you, such as, for example your preferences, to provide personalised content, services, and ads.

We do not pass on to these advertisers and other third parties any information that directly identifies you. The advertisers and other third parties (such as advertising networks, advertising agencies, and any other service providers commissioned by them) can only assume that users who interact with or click on personalised ads or content belong to the target group to which the ad or content relates.

If you do not wish us to use cookies, simply set your Internet browser to delete cookies from your hard drive, block all cookies, or warn you before a cookie is stored, so you can decide on a case-by-case basis whether you want the cookie. For more information, see the help function of your Internet browser, e.g. under

Internet Explorer (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17442/windows-internet-explorer-delete-manage-cookies)
Firefox (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/delete-cookies-remove-info-websites-stored)
Important: Certain functions, such as the recovery of the shopping basket contents, are only available using cookies. We therefore recommend that you do not completely disable cookies.

If you leave our site and access third-party sites, the landing page may also set cookies. We cannot accept any legal responsibility for such cookies. For details on the use of these cookies by third parties and the information stored therein, please read the privacy policies on these sites and the following remarks.

Web analytics

In order to improve our website regularly for you, we use the services of Webtrekk GmbH, Berlin, Germany, which collects, stores and analyses usage data. It has been certified in Germany for data protection in the field of web controlling, after its data processing was audited for data protection compliance and data security.

If you use services of our website, Webtrekk will set a cookie. It allows Webtrekk to collect, store and analyse the usage data. The collected usage data is anonymised by shortening the IP address. This means that Webtrekk will not be able to identify you either. The shortened IP address is needed exclusively for session identification and geolocation (down to the city level) purposes. For more information about data privacy at Webtrekk, visit https://www.webtrekk.com/en/legal/opt-out-webtrekk/. In order to deactivate Webtrekk and to prevent the collection of usage data, a cookie (referred to as "webTrekkOptOut") must be set. The cookie is available here (https://www.webtrekk.com/en/index/opt-out-webtrekk/). If the cookie is set, the usage data will not be collected.

MyAccount function

With our MyAccount function, you can create and manage personal bookmarks for our events using a personal, password-protected user profile. The data stored in the profile will be used exclusively within the website for this purpose. No analysis of the data takes place. The profile can be completely deleted by the profile owner at any time.

Despite regular data backups and the use of fail-safe storage systems for our website, we cannot accept any responsibility for the storage and archiving of data collected in connection with the MyAccount function. After events, we also reserve the right to delete data collected by the user while using MyAccount without prior notice.

Feathr

We use the "Feathr" retargeting technology to re-contact the visitor to the Feathr Partner Network at a later date as part of remarketing campaigns, based on the visitor's previous user behaviour on this website using stored cookies. If you do not wish to receive targeted advertising from Feathr, you can opt out via the following link: http://feathr.co/opt-out/. For this opt-out to be permanent, your browser must allow cookies.

ADITION

Our website uses the adserving technology solution of ADITION technologies.

ADITION uses cookies to control and optimise the display of advertising material provided by ADITION's customers for the user. By setting cookies, ADITION does not store personal data such as names, e-mail addresses or other personal details. All information is purely anonymised and contains technical information such as the ad frequency and the display date, the browser used or the operating system installed.

All of ADITION's data collection processes comply strictly with German data protection law. All stored data is stored on servers in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Clicking on the following link stops the collection of anonymised data. In this case, ADITION will replace the current cookie with a new opt-out cookie. This opt-out cookie deletes the previously stored information, including the IP address, and prevents the further collection of anonymised information. You can prevent the system from recording usage data at any time using the cookie opt-out option.

Retrieving the opt-out status.
Setting the opt-out cookie.
Cancelling the opt-out.
IMPORTANT: if this opt-out cookie is deleted, ADITION can no longer determine that an opt-out has taken place. In this case the opt-out process will have to be repeated.

Facebook plug-ins

Our website contains plug-ins from Facebook, Palo Alto, USA. Facebook is a social network. The relevant plug-in is recognisable by the Facebook logo or the "like" button. A general overview of all plug-ins from Facebook is available under the following link: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins?locale=en_US

As soon as you visit our website, the Facebook plug-in establishes a direct connection between your Internet browser and the Facebook servers. This way, Facebook is informed that our website has been visited with your IP address. If you happen to be logged in to Facebook, you can link the relevant content on our website to your Facebook profile, for example, by clicking the "Like" button. It is then possible for Facebook to associate your visit to our website with your Facebook account. As the provider of our website, we are not informed by Facebook about the content of the transmitted data or the data usage. You can find more information under the following link: https://www.facebook.com/policy.php

If you are a member of Facebook, but do not want Facebook to receive data about you via our website and connect it to your membership data, you must log out of Facebook before you visit our website.

Facebook Custom Audience

The Custom Audience Pixel (a small Java script code) of the social network Facebook, Palo Alto, USA is integrated on our pages. When you visit our pages, this pixel creates a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. This informs Facebook that you visited our website using your IP address. This allows Facebook to allocate your visit to our webpages to your user account. We can use this information to display Facebook ads.

Please note that, as the website provider, we are not given any information on the contents of the transmitted data nor their use by Facebook. Further information about this is available in the Facebook privacy policy at (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/). If you do not wish data to be collected via Custom Audience, you can disable Custom Audiences here (https://www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/).

Twitter plug-ins

Our website contains plug-ins from Twitter Inc., San Francisco, USA. If you use Twitter and in particular the like and retweet function, Twitter will link your Twitter account to the websites you visit. This will be disclosed to other users on Twitter, especially your followers. This way, data is also transferred to Twitter.

As the provider of our website, we are not informed by Twitter about the content of the transmitted data or the data usage. You can find more information under the following link: https://twitter.com/en/privacy

However, please note that you have the option to change your Twitter privacy settings in the account settings at http://twitter.com/account/settings.

Twitter Remarketing

With the Twitter Remarketing feature, we can target visitors to our website with advertising on the Twitter platform based on their interests. For this purpose, Twitter uses so-called "tags". Using this tag, website visits and data on use of the website are recorded in a pseudonymous, non-personal form. If you subsequently visit Twitter, you will see ads based on your interests. If you do not want Twitter to contact you with targeted advertising, you can disable this feature on Twitter at https://support.twitter.com/articles/20171528. For more information about data privacy at Twitter and on Twitter ads, visit:

https://help.twitter.com/en/safety-and-security/privacy-controls-for-tailored-ads

The Twitter timeline shows all tweets in real-time with the event hashtag. Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH has no influence on the content presented here and expressly distances itself from racist, sexist and other prohibited content.

Linkedin Conversion Tracking

Linkedin Conversion Tracking: We use the analysis and conversion tracking technology of the LinkedIn platform on our website. Using the above-mentioned LinkedIn technology, it is possible to display advertising that is more relevant and based on your interests. We also receive aggregated and anonymous reports from LinkedIn on ad activities and information about how you interact with our website.

For more information on data privacy at LinkedIn, visit: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy?_l=en_EN. You may object to the analysis of your usage behaviour by LinkedIn and the display of interest-based recommendations ("opt-out"). To do so, click on "Decline on LinkedIn" (for LinkedIn members) or "Decline" (for other users) at the following link: https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out.

YouTube plug-ins

This website contains at least one plug-in from YouTube, which belongs to Google Inc., San Bruno, USA. As soon as you visit pages on our website featuring a YouTube plug-in, you will be connected to the servers of YouTube, which will be informed which particular page of our website you visited. If you are also logged in to your YouTube account, you would enable YouTube to link your browsing behaviour directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your account first. For more information about YouTube's collection and use of your data, please read the privacy policy https://www.youtube.com/.

Google Tag Manager

This website uses Google Tag Manager. Google Tag Manager is a solution that is used to manage site tags via an interface. The Tag Manager tool itself (which implements the tags) is a cookie-less domain and does not collect any personal data. The tool triggers other tags, which may collect data. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If disabled at the domain or cookie level, this will remain in effect for all tracking tags implemented with Google Tag Manager.
