Kompaktseminar: Wireless EMC for 5G and mmWave Measurements

Teil 1: Testing Challenges of Smart Antenna Systems for 5G and Millimeter Waves

Kurzbeschreibung: The proliferation of wireless technologies into every corner of our lives, starting with traditional cellular and wireless LAN technologies and leading to the impending evolution of connected cars and the “Internet of Things,” all require the use of one common asset - bandwidth. While the traditional approach to added bandwidth is simply to use more RF spectrum, the availability of spectrum, especially at frequencies compatible with most of today’s applications, is severely limited. Technologies continue to evolve to make better utilization of the available bandwidth, including MIMO, beam forming, spectrum sharing and reuse, etc. The added complexity of these “smart” antenna systems carries over into the complexity of trying to test radios using these technologies. Smart antenna systems that adapt to their environment are not likely to perform the same way in a traditional laboratory test as they would in the real world. Thus, the laboratory test methodologies must advance to keep up with these innovations to be able to determine the expected over-the-air performance of these devices without requiring an unlimited number of test cases. This presentation will provide an overview on the evolving 5G and mmWave technologies and the resulting dramatic changes to the wireless industry that will impact the way all RF and EMC testing of devices is performed.

Teil 2: The Impact of Antennas and Sensors on Automotive EMC

Kurzbeschreibung: The rapid development of advanced automotive features and the trend toward autonomy continues to drive the need for more sophisticated automotive design and test scenarios. Vehicle platforms continue to become increasingly more complex with propulsion, entertainment and safety related systems all having to function reliably without impacting safety or the legacy communications infrastructure. This results in more sophisticated automotive design and test for EMC, antenna, and sensor performance verification. This presentation will discuss the latest research in automotive EMC to address these emerging automotive trends in the real world.

Kompaktseminar: When Black Magic Disappears: EMI and Solutions

This compact seminar will help you to discover not only the tools and components, but also some techniques to avoid and troubleshoot EMC, all of them with real examples.
We will discuss the secrets of filtering, which components we can use, and the important parameters and behavior of real components in an actual application. A tour through the differences between the parts in the datasheet and in the real world will be explained. This knowledge will enable the design engineer to make the best possible part selection

The main goal of this compact seminar is to give engineers the tools and techniques to solve EMI issues. To reach this goal, the basic functionality and physics behind the components, as well as their limitations will be explained in the context of EMI troubleshooting and EMC design techniques.
