| Level Up the Full Size Windmills with the Most Powerful IPM High power density windmill converter design is the focus of new wind turbines. Solutions in air-cooled or water-cooled technologies are in the market but the power density factor is very small (6-8kW per liter). Offshore wind turbines needs a very compact design and also installed converter systems in the tower cabin. The highest influence in the power density factor of the windmill converter will be defined by the power modules and cooling concept. In this paper we will introduce a new high power IPM without base plate, without solder connection inside the power module (chips are sintered to the DCB) and very low thermal impedance. The combination of this new high power IPM with a water-cooled heat sink allows the highest power density in the windmill market. Power density factor of 20kW per liter is possible. A water-cooled windmill converter concept with this new IPM will be introduced. |

| High efficiency solar converter design with new IGBT power modules Solar application is just started getting popular. Every windmill converter can also be a solar converter according to the requested line performance. The main difference is the efficiency. PV modules are still very expensive and the user likes to use the full performance of the PV modules. The focus of this paper is the design of a solar converter in medium and high power range with new IGBT power modules. The new IGBT power modules are suitable to increase the efficiency of the solar inverter. a. IGBT Power module in 3-level-topology up to 250 KVA b. IGBT Power module without base plate and solder layer up to 1 MVA |
