Control of High Power Active Filtering System with Zero Current Ripples
Daniel Wojciechowski, Gdynia Maritime University, Poland
Ryszard Strzelecki, Gdynia Maritime University, Poland
Nominated for the Young Engineer Award

The paper introduces novel, model based predictive control for ripple free active power filter with LCL circuit, which provides control dynamics limited only by circuit parameters. There are presented simulations and experimental results achieved for 1.2 MVA APF system.

10:30

Digital Control Algorithm for Power Factor Correction
Nitin Agarwal, STMicroelectronics, India

The output of the system is a gate drive signal for the MOSFETs of the two phases of the interleaved converter. These two phases are out of 180 degrees. Inputs to the system, from the external world, are Voltage reference, DC output voltage, AC input voltage, and AC input current. Voltage reference is set internally. Based on DC output voltage, VERR is calculated. This error signal is fed to Voltage PID loop, which is the outer loop. The output of Voltage PID loop is one of the inputs of Current PID loop, which is the inner loop.

Research on Three-Phase Partial Active Power Factor Correction
Yongxin Zhang, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China
Xijun Yang, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China
Jianguo Jang, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China
Nominated for the Young Engineer Award
Nominated for the Best Paper Award

After the short description of working principle and simulation analysis, the experiments are carried out. The obtained results prove the features of three-phase partial PFC of low voltage and current stresses, high efficiency, higher power factor and higher DC average voltage. The harmonics current are consistent with IEC61000-3-2 under any load, and the power factor is higher up to 0.98 under above medium load.

UCC28070 Implement Bridgeless PFC Pre-Regulator Design
Jimmy Liu, Texas Instruments, China

Bridgeless PFC topology attracts more attention to meet new high efficiency requirements for AC/DC power supply. This paper will review the design consideration of bridgeless PFC, that uses the Texas Instruments UCC28070 to achieve simplified bridgeless PFC. It present a bridgeless solution that is relatively easy to implement in sense that it does not require any additional circuit for current sensing and the operation remains very similar to that of a conventional CCM PFC. Based on the theory analysis, UCC28070 with current synthesis and quantized voltage feed-forward is very good candidate for bridgeless PFC. The paper will use TI 300W UCC28070 Interleaved PFC demo board to modify to a simplified semi-bridgeless PFC. The experiment concludes UCC28070 can realize a bridgeless PFC with higher efficiency and high power factor.
